We are Boy Scouts of America Troop 842 in Coppell, Texas, chartered by the First United Methodist Church in Coppell.

We meet on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm at 420 South Heartz Road in Coppell.  You are welcome to visit and learn more about us.

Refreshments Sign Up for May 4 Court of Honor

Parents - We will be hosting our first in-person Court of Honor outside the FUMC Ministry building on May 4th.  Following the ceremony, we will have refreshments for the Scouts and their families.  If you can bring cupcakes, cookies or bottled water for the reception, please let us know by signing up for that here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a044aada923a1fb6-troop 

Registration for May Campout Now Open

The focus of this campout will be canoeing!  We will be at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch in Bridgeport, TX on Lake Bridgeport. If you intend to canoe, please be sure to complete your swim test at the event scheduled in April.

Summer Camp Registration

We are planning to attend summer camp at Camp Alexander in Colorado this summer.  The dates will be June 5th to June 12th.  If there are any changes due to COVID, we will let you know. 

Patch Distribution at Tuesday Meeting

If you earned a merit badge or rank advancement at one of the last few Courts of Honor, we will have your patches available for pickup at this Tuesday night's meeting, March 30.  Please come by at 7 PM to pickup your patches.

March Merit Badge Opportunities

On Saturday, March 6, we will have opportunities for Scouts to start work on Citizenship in the World and Hiking MBs.  Citizenship in the World is an Eagle Required MB and Hiking can be used for an Eagle requirement in place of Swimming or Cycling MB. Please note that the Hiking MB involves several long and strenuous hikes that take place over some extended duration of time. You should be reasonably fit before selecting this MB. Registration is now open on the troop calendar.

Service Hours Opportunities

If you need service hours, there are two opportunities that have opened up:

  1. Regular Service Hour Opportunities @ Metrocrest Food Bank – Various Dates/Times- register here. Please note volunteers must be 13+.  If under 16, you must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.
  2. Conservation Hours Opportunity @ Coppell Nature Park – March 13, 9-12 AM – register here.

 Be sure to complete your Service Hours Approval Form before participating.  This is required in order for you to receive recognition for your work.
